Chief Frank Nelson, a hereditary chief of Kwaka'wakw has gone home to the ancestors. A fluent Kwakwala speaker and traditionalist, he was a big supporter of the Northwest Native canoe resurgence and a song he composed has become the anthem for the canoe people of of BC and Washington state.
